I would like to start by saying a big hello to everyone that finds this blog and takes the time to read my story.
The Journey began on the 11th of January this year, the day our new property settled. It had been a long and very stressful road to this point with some disappointment along the way. Last year I decided that living in rental housing was putting a lot of strain on my mental health with the constant inspections (with the property being put up for sale) and the uncertainty that comes with living in a house that is on the market.
I was told that buying a house was a very exciting time in your life and to relax and enjoy the process. I have a completely different take on this and found the whole thing to be a complete headache. My partner and I looked at so many places and found that what the real estate agent told us and what we found once we arrived to inspect were worlds apart. After much disappointment and waisted time we knew right away when we saw the place that was right for us.
Having lived in the country most of my life and moving into town was never an option for me.Finding a place within our limited price range was always going to be a challenge but this never daunted me as it was something I wanted more than anything. There have always been animals in my life and over the 5 years we had rented in Ravenshoe i had managed to extend the family by 3 cows and a horse. In the end i had to make the decision to downsize and it was the cows that had to go. These girls were my pride and joy so this was no easy decision. Luckily i have some wonderful friends that could take them for me and offer them a forever home on acreage not far away so i can always visit.

After months of searching and 2 months of shear hell waiting for the bank to give us an answer. We ended up buying a 2.5 acre block with a lovely house right in the area that I had always wanted to live in. I really never thought that I would be so lucky to find such a great buy. I have many people to thank for the end result but this is just the beginning and I promise that this blog will contain a lot more over the coming weeks that may surprise. I do not intend this to be a boring story of my life but more an eclectic mix of short stories, anecdotes and pretty much anything that I feel like at the time.
