Today I decided to do some pickling, I had a large number of chillis that I wanted to preserve.
I have a few different types of Chilies growing and had saved some large jars so that they would all fit in.
The problem was that all of the jars had labels on them and even though you are told to recycle
it seems that labels are being stuck on with glue that is almost impossible to remove.
I remember cleaning the jars for Mum when I was a kid and it never seemed so hard, I have tried everything to get some of the glue off, Eucalyptus oil is lovely in your Diffuser, but not in your Jam.
It has never worked for me, Metho also smells terrible and often has no effect, soaking in hot soapy water removes the paper part of the label but not the glue and even leaving them in the dishwasher for a week going through every night does not do anything, I know!
Well today I had a brainwave, a few weeks ago I had glue on my fingers and used the hand sanitizer that was on the sink instead of the soap and it worked it removed all trace of the sticky stuff and when I washed my hands with soap they were clean with no trace of the glue.
After removing the paper part of the label, I spread a generous amount of hand sanitizer on the jar where the label had been and rubbed it with a nylon scrubber, within seconds the jar was free of the glue and after washing it in soapy water it was ready to go.

This is the one I had on hand.
