I would like to highlight the difficulty in getting any help through the current Aged Care System in Australia.

Since the changes made to Aged Care on November 1st 2025 navigating the system for the elderly has become a nightmare.

Even those that work in the industry are finding it all impossible, so how are our already stressed Elderly supposed to work it out.

So you are sent a letter telling you that you now have received funding for your Support at Home Level 1 to 7 and you now must find a provider within days.

This is not an easy feat as many providers are at capacity and then they are told to get an income statement from Centrelink, this has taken some people I know more than a month.

Appointments are needed with Centrelink and then they were told that they had no idea what they were asking for and why did they need this?

After explaining what they were doing they were sent away with nothing.

Yes there is ADA advocacy that can help but they have a wait time and are so inundated that they cannot help everyone.

Many people are forgoing taking a Support at Home Level as they cannot navigate the stress it takes to get it happening.

Or they are told that the cost will be so much they choose to stay with CHSP and later find their health issues deteriorating and cannot access the care they need.

To those who dreamed up this system did any of you look at the accessibility to a person in their 70s and 80s.

I really don’t think this was considered at all.

Or maybe you felt that if you made it impossible people would not be able to use it.

And don’t get me started on the use of Algorithms to assess people on their need for services this is just ridiculous, with this system we see people who are completely unable to do anything for themselves refused services with CHSP due to an algorithm deeming them to be ineligible.

The system is completely flawed.

However let’s look at the NDIS where you can be able to work sometimes even full time and you can still access NDIS to take you out for a coffee or clean your house.

Seriously what is our money better spent on?

Could someone with authority please take a look at how bad this really is.

Now I have seen all of this first hand so it’s not second hand information.

Please give our Elderly the care they deserve.

They are not asking for a free ride just a fair assessment of their needs.
