There was a time when you could pick up a phone and make a call, any time and you would be able to hear the phone ringing and the person answer at the other end.
This was before Telstra thought they could make things better and “improved technology” became something we all had to have.
In the 70s and 80s and 90s phone service was much more reliable you may have had Mrs Jones listening in on the party line and have to speak to an operator to be connected but you could make that call in the 70s.
They may have had mobiles so big you needed to carry them in a bag in the 80s but you could make a call.
In the 90s phones were much more reliable than they are today.
With every “Upgrade” they get worse
Now if you are lucky you restart your phone, toggle aeroplane mode ,walk out into the middle of your yard in the pouring rain and maybe you can get a connection and the phone will ring.
So often your phone does not ring and you receive a message about a missed call you never actually got.
I have 3 phones one Optus and one Telstra plus a Telstra work phone and on many occasions I cannot get one of them to ring or make a call.
Telstra says I have 3 towers in my area and that there is nothing wrong with the service where I live, I beg to differ.
Optus also said that they can find nothing wrong and blamed my aging handpiece that was working about 50% of the time.
They “Upgraded” me to a Samsung A16 this phone would not work at all in my location after weeks of changing settings and speaking to Samsung with absolutely no connection even with wifi calling I bought another phone with similar specs to my old Phone and at least it works 50% of the time so I am really no better off.
Telstra has closed my complaint as they blamed me for not answering their calls even after I told them I was not getting their calls.
They could not get in touch with me on their dodgy service and have the hide to blame me. It is just laughable.
At times my phone works on Wifi calling for weeks just fine. But then the service will drop out most afternoons and I will not be able to make or receive calls for weeks.
And there is never a fault found how can this be my fault.
I am in the same spot with the same equipment .
I can’t be the only person this happens too!
